So like everyone else I installed the Mac Appstore earlier. The only app that I could be bothered to download was the free Twitter app (aka Tweetie 3).

I'm genuinely surprised that people like it so much, here are a the main things that bothered me about it:

- Favourites (starred items) are a pain to find. I use these as my bookmarks so need quick access. I'd far rather have this than "lists" in my sidebar. Let the user decide.
- No scheduled tweets.
- No choice of URL shortener
- You can't shorten your URLs while you are writting your tweet - so you have no way of knowing how many letters you have left - check that, the character count reflected is for the shortened URL (thanks Si).
- However this does mean that you can't opt not to shorten a link. I use this fairly often when posting top-level URLs e.g. "Wow, http://bit.ly/bundles/ rock!"
- Does not sync with other official Twitter clients i.e. iPhone.
- Marks your outgoing DMs as new messages (WTF?!)
- No "new tweet" button. If I'm in trackpad mode, don't force me to use my keyboard.
- I can't opt to use the RT: syntax for quoted tweets.
- I also can't see "my tweets, retweeted" as I can on the web. It's twitter's app, it should have their standard services.
- No "auto-complete" of usernames
- No Instapaper support

For now, that means it's Hootsuite for me...!
